May 2018 || Free 52

Hello friends!!

It's the beginning of another month, which means, it's another post wrapping up all the freelensing in May! Please take a scroll through. I apologize now, this month is a bit of a dump. I took a boat load of images. If you can make it through, I'd love for you to visit the next talented lady in our freelensing blog circle! Next up is the talented April of April Christopher Photo + Art. I always look forward to seeing the out-door adventures that she shares!

Our May was comprised of two awesome camping trips (my kiddos FIRST time!) and a little of home life. First up is our very first family camping trip. It was an awesome trip to Cape Disappointment State Park. The weather was actually super great for spring in the PNW! No rain! A bit cold...but nothing that wasn't fixed by a warm sleeping bag to cuddle up in at the end of the night! As always the kiddos enjoyed, throwing rocks, collecting treasures and twirling with seaweed!

Next up is a few freelensed images from Emery's daddy + daughter dance at school. Cue tears and all the feels.

One of my group project prompts was slow shutter. So I took the kiddos outside to play on the slip-n-slide. While out there I got the idea to try and freelens a slow shutter. Well let me say. Slow shutter on a super sunny day + detaching your lens = a whole lot of blown stuff. The lens I was using, however, I can still control the aperture. So I closed it way down and freelened away. Things I learned doing this. When you widen your focus plane (by closing down you aperture) freelensing effects are minimal, also, if you accidentally move while doing so, you may get a really interesting movement effect!

Last major event this month was our second family camping trip to Pacific City. This time around we went with three other families from our neighborhood. This trip was so awesome! The weather was incredible!! I even got a little burn. From the sun. On an Oregon PNW beach in May! That alone is something! The families spent (a lot) of time on the beach playing and searching for shells. Kids played the way kids should play, free, wild and outside! Kickball, bikes, tree branch limbo, and two of them even snuck a phone to do their own photo shoot! There were so many good times around the fire, strolling through our four campsites and talking. Not many of those parts are documented, and for that I am glad. I felt like I got a good mix of capturing childhood memories and just being present with family and friends!
